    How do I know if my dog has an unbalanced microbiome?

    Many of the common symptoms of an unbalanced gut microbiome, or dysbiosis, are what dog owners often recognise as common ailments that most dogs will suffer from at some point. This is often done without even considering that their gut may be to blame.

    These symptoms aren’t always a result of dysbiosis, and can instead be signs of underlying health conditions. Investigating your dog’s gut health and microbiome is the only way to diagnose dysbiosis and properly tailor the next steps. If you’re worried about any of these persistent symptoms, be sure to contact your vet.

    How do I send off my dog's sample?
    Once you've followed our step-by-step instructions, successfully filled in your activation quiz, and collected a poop sample from your dog - make sure it's tightly sealed and placed within the specimen bag with the absorbent pad. Then, stick the returns label on the test kit box, place your sample inside, seal everything up and pop it in your nearest postbox! If you're in the Scottish Highlands, Scottish Islands or N.Ireland, you need to take it to your local Post Office. For Channel Is or Isle of Man, please contact [email protected]
    When collecting your dog's sample, be sure to follow the step-by-step guide on the leaflet that comes with your test kit. For more information, you can scan the QR found within your test kit to watch our video guide. Plus, make sure you complete the activation quiz before sending off the sample.     Yes! To be suffering from gut imbalance or to have issues with their gut health, dogs don't have to be displaying clear symptoms. Since there are so many environmental factors that can impact the balance of their microbiome diversity, and the fact that it just naturally declines with age, it's never safe to assume that your dog's microbiome and gut health are functioning at 100%. To find out more, be sure to read our article: 'How do you know your dog has an unbalanced microbiome?'.
    It is recommended to retest in the future so that we can see how our recommendations have affected your dog’s microbiome. Frequency of retesting will depend on the health of your dog and their microbiome. If your dog is generally healthy, then retests will be less frequent. We usually recommend testing every 6 months to monitor their progress. If they have an active disease process, particularly a gastrointestinal disease, then we will recommend more frequent retests until we have things back under control with a healthier biome.
    We aim to get your results back to you 3-4 weeks after we have received your dogs sample. After this time you'll receive a full report to your email with a supplement plan for your dog and a detailed breakdown of the results.
