Dental sticks are great for the upkeep and health of your dog's pearly whites and gums. Ours specifically contain Lignocellulose which is a natural source of fibre, and SHMP, to prevent tartar build-up. However, they shouldn’t be the only thing you do to keep their teeth clean! To make sure you’re keeping your dog’s teeth as clean as possible, they should be brushed with a dog safe toothbrush and toothpaste. Dental sticks are a very useful tool when it comes to the upkeep of your dog’s teeth, especially for those canines who aren’t big fans of the toothbrush. Not only are they a tasty treat, but the abrasive surface scrapes along teeth, preventing plaque from sticking to the surface of the tooth, and breaking off chunks of calculus (hardened plaque). All of this good stuff contributes to reducing the risk of periodontal disease.
We wouldn’t recommend giving dental sticks to puppies as they’ll still have all their baby teeth (and they don’t actually need dental sticks). The best thing you can do to keep your pup’s teeth clean is to start getting them accustomed to having their teeth brushed from an early age. However, if you’re still finding this difficult, dental sticks can be given shortly after their adult teeth have fully come through.
