We have holidays dedicated to everything from National Tea Day to Black Friday, so it’s only right we celebrate mother earth as well! Earth Day is an annual event to celebrate the planet and to encourage people to help protect the environment. Not only is Earth Day a great time to consciously do something a little greener, but to also involve your dog in a fun way.  Looking for easy ways to celebrate Earth Day as a dog owner? We’ve got you covered.

1. Go outside

This seems like an obvious one, but instead of taking your dog on its usual route, treat them to a long walk in one of the UK’s many woods and parks. Going for a longer-than-usual walk is a great time to breathe deeply, really enjoy springtime, and fully appreciate nature. Find your nearest Woodland Trust wood here

2. Recycle

As a dog owner, there are several ways to recycle a little bit more. It’s more ecologically friendly to buy bigger packages of dog food, therefore reducing packaging waste. Another great way to get your green on? Donate gently used dog toys to your nearest dog shelter or charity. Not only are you recycling, but you’re spreading the earth-day happiness!

3. Have a Dog Party

Commune with mother earth and invite your fellow dog-owning friends to the park. Make it a party, let the dogs run wild, and simply enjoy togetherness outside. Appreciate the fresh air and all the natural goodness Mother Nature has to offer. Don’t forget to clean up after yourselves though!

4. Buy Green

Do a little research to find and purchase natural and sustainably-sourced food. Our dog food range has not only won Good Shopping Guide Ethical Brand award, but we make sure our ingredients are all-natural and healthy. Our Health & Digestion dog food is formulated with sustainably-sourced Scottish salmon.

There are so many small things that we can not only do on Earth day to help protect our environment, but also little tasks we can incorporate into our every day lives.
